With the Increasing Undergraduate Student Interpreters' American Sign Language (ASL) Biology Vocabulary, Content Knowledge, and Interpreting Ability project TERC and Lamar University researched and developed teaching and learning materials to provide students in Lamar's interpreting program with knowledge and skills to support students who are deaf or hard of hearing in the learning of biology content. This work was funded in part by a grant from the National Science Foundation (Award #2019843) and builds on outcomes of NSF Award #1703343. It resulted in an updated version of the SBD; a set of bioscience content summaries, tutorials explaining the Principles of Fingerspelling and Fingerspelling Activities; and an evaluation of use and effectiveness of the materials developed.
